Program

OrcaSat

Four missions in the committed program. Two more behind gates. Later work doesn’t start until the previous flight returns data.

Approach

How we work

Sequence

Each mission adds one new problem. Demo-1 is sensors. Demo-2 is radio and camera. OrcaSat-1 is orbit. Don't mix those on the first flight.

Cost

A failed Demo-1 costs a few hundred dollars. A failed OrcaSat-1 costs tens of thousands and two years. Suborbital flights exist to find problems while they're still cheap.

Gates

Committed work stops at OrcaSat-2. OrcaSat-3 and -4 stay research until a named gate opens. No launch dates for anything we haven't contracted.

Status

Current work

Demo-1 is in build. Demo-2 is planned. OrcaSat-1 is in design.

Avionics

KEEL

On-board computer, power, and camera. Flies on OrcaSat-1. Later missions keep the same stack and change what they have to.
